Scholarship Program for Performing Arts Teachers

Wolf Trap Foundation Scholarships are awarded to individual public high school teachers/classes in the performing arts for instruction leading to student performance. Selected high schools in Washington, DC; Montgomery County, MD; Prince George's County, MD; and Fairfax County, VA; receive grants of $2,500.

The Wolf Trap Foundation Scholarship Program supports arts education that parallels Wolf Trap's performance and education priorities, including: artist residencies, commissions, Master Classes, and technology in the arts.

Through this program, high school performing arts teachers have the resources to explore and enhance their curriculum, which serves as a benefit to students. Our scholarship winners to date have created student works that have included the following:

  • Artist residencies with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company of Ohio and the Shakespeare Theatre of Washington, DC
  • A Master Class with acclaimed Los Angeles world and pop band, Ozomatli
  • Commissioned orchestral works by talented composers and musicians
  • Technology in the arts, presenting a student-choreographed piece using video animation
