A jazz guitarist beyond classification, Frisell creates “picturesque soundscapes that transport listeners to small-town America where it seems as if time has stopped.” —Express
- Frisell’s latest album, Disfarmer, is a musical portrait inspired by the works of famed Arkansas photographer Mike Disfarmer. In an interview with The Washington Post, Frisell explains, "Somehow, he got them off guard…He wouldn't give them any warning when he took the photo; he would just sort of wait and wait and wait. And the people would be just standing there, not really knowing what's going on."
- Frisell was the co-composer for the film score of Million Dollar Hotel (2000) starring Mel Gibson, as well as popular Gus Van Sant films Finding Forrester and the remake of Psycho.
- Rudy Royston (drummer) appeared with Frisell in spring 2009 at The Barns. Eyvind Kang (violin) is known for his experimentations with classical and jazz violin.
